THE WORLD AND THE WARS

By School Admin

What if a person is continuously being humiliated, even if he has not done any wrong deed? One feels frustrated and the human tendency tends him to seek revenge. We, humans are super-sensitive but when it comes to our nation we get more sentient of. And, what if the nation is being incessantly mortified; we’ll definitely follow human tendency. Similarly, when World War II was waged by Germany, was Germany wrong? There may be different opinions about this by different people.

In the early 20s the harmony between European countries was lost to sight when Austria and Hungary who were befriended by Germany, proclaimed war against Serbia who was an ally of Russia. This war gradually turned out to be known as WORLD WAR I when it didn’t confine between few countries but became a matter between Central Powers versus Allied Powers. Millions of soldiers lost their lives in this war of bigheads. The conclusion of this war was victory of allied powers which included Serbia, Russia, Britain, France and many more powerful countries. However, this was not the only result. Germany’s overseas colonies and 13% of its territories were seized. After the war, the Emperor of Imperial Germany abdicated, Germany was entirely blamed and was forced to compensate for the war and to weaken Germany the allied powers demilitarized it.

Nevertheless, Germany became a debtor from a creditor and when the country denied to pay ; the Allied powers overtook its resource-rich city called Rhineland. In this unjust period of Germany, there a time came when about 6 million people were unemployed and youth was compelled to become a criminal. For a time being, imagine yourself in 1929 and you would see people with placards around their neck on streets with bold letters written ‘Willing to do any work.’ Amid all these troubles, a man emerged who seemed to the people as their ‘messiah’ and assured the natives that he would improve their condition and weed out all foreign influences. With these promises, he made his empire as a saviour but gradually turned out to be as one of the most brutal dictators ever – ‘Hitler’. It is said that war does not determine who is right but only who is left, and in the First World War Hitler fought as a soldier and he was left to witness all the atrocities by the allied powers which made him so. Germany was never wrong, its dictator was wrong. Hitler’s aim to make Germany a prosperous country was never an offence but his way to do so was illicit. To regain the economic condition, he didn’t think to invest in human resources or to generate employment rather he invaded Poland in 1939 marking the beginning of the Second World War. A genuine leader is never a destroyer of people but a begetter of people.

Aforementioned, he promised the native people to weed out all foreign influences and unaware of his intentions, people supported him. However, first he took the citizenship rights from all the Jews of Germany heedlessly and then sent them in Concentration Camps which were located at the outskirts of the country. If people could survive in the small ghettos and won’t die of starvation, he would send them in gas chambers to die. Most inhuman acts ever did by any human! He was a result of war and the eye witness for all the act of barbarities. The famous book “The Diary of a Young Girl” by a 13-year -old Jew girl gives a poignant and evocative glimpse of this barbaric act of Hitler against the Jews.

Unfortunately, all these adversities are not just history which is only written on pages but the vicious bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was also one of the consequences of this war which future generation is still repaying in the form of several deadly diseases as the side effect of the nuclear radiation.

But, we are really compelling history to repeat itself. We’re going back in the era when there was lack of communication that resulted into wars. Let’s ask ourselves that meanwhile in this pandemic, are we ready to afford more corpses of our very own people? This idea can relate to a very meaningful poem by Ms Moem:

“No one ever wins a war.

Just take a look at history and all that came before,

No one ever, and I mean no one, truly ever wins a war.

Who started what, is not the focus that matters

That endless retaliation leaves family in tatters.

Hope turns to horror, today turns to terror.

                                   What’s left for tomorrow?”

And, this is exactly what can be observed right now around the world; an eye for an eye, a bomb for a bomb. The Russia Ukraine conflict is taking a big shape and in this epoch of technology when it should radiate positivity, the media and technology must show control over themselves so that more hatred does not spread among the people. Everyone around the world is becoming keyboard warriors and commenting about the scenario. A politician began the war and he may not feel guilty, though youth is dying everyday for the sake of ego of big names. War is in none’s favour. How can one enjoy victory if one is socially, psychologically and economically broken? How can one cherish triumph that killed our brethren?

People consider the invasion on Allied powers by Hitler as a mistake and call it as ‘Historic Blunder’ and yet repeating the same blunder now. Isn’t there any other alternative rather waging wars? Can’t peace prevail without bringing the youth on the verge of death? If yes, then the past times were much better because we had a justification of miscommunication at least. But now, what defences the idea of wars in the generation of sciences at the moment? To make mistakes is human; to repeat them is plain lunacy. It is the voice of entire generation to stop wars to bring Global stability. Sometimes staying quiet can benefit one more than mere gaining complacency as a result of combat. A war is only equitable if it is fought for a reason that carries ample of moral standing, influence and weight; else wars can never be justified. Wars are not wrong if you are on the defenders’ end but if one is executing wars then wars are and will forever stay wrong.
